A guy at the Krog Street Tunnel gave me the weirdest directions last weekend
I was trying to find a specific street mural off Wylie Street, and this older dude with a parrot on his shoulder was just hanging out by the spray paint cans. I asked if he knew where the 'robot family' piece was, and he stared for a second before saying, 'You walk until you smell the ghost of peaches, then turn left at the crying angel.' He was totally serious. I just thanked him and walked off, completely confused. About ten minutes later, I passed a broken peach-scented air freshener on the ground and then saw a graffiti angel with drippy paint eyes. I turned left and there was the mural. It worked, but I have no idea how. Has anyone else gotten bizarrely accurate directions from a stranger around here?

Atlanta street wizards are just built different, honestly.

Yeah I used to think it was just hype, but that history really does explain the sound.

It's more about the city's history than being "built different". Atlanta's hip hop scene came up through local spots like the Apache Cafe and Magic City. That created a specific sound you hear in artists like Outkast and Future. It's a cultural thing, not some random street magic.
