Upgrading my photo stacking program was a cosmic mistake
I got the new version for better star alignment and less grain. It began merging my Jupiter shots with deep sky objects from other folders. One attempt at the Andromeda galaxy produced a collage with my dog's blurry tail from an old test. The support page told me to uninstall and reinstall the older software three times. I lost a whole night's worth of raw files from the Perseids meteor shower. Now I just use the basic blend tool and check each layer myself. It takes forever but at least the pictures look like space.

My buddy had a similar mess with his vacation photos. The editing software he used started pulling random thumbnails from his whole computer. One sunset ended up with his grocery list floating in the clouds. Makes you wonder how these updates get tested, right @lilychen? He had to sort through thousands of pictures by hand to fix it. Said it took longer than the actual trip.

Yikes, that sounds like a total nightmare. Blending your dog's tail into deep space is almost funny, except for losing all those meteor shots. How was your folder system even set up before the upgrade that it could grab such random images? Were they all just loose in one giant "astro" folder or something?
