Unpopular opinion: The wait for a perfect galaxy shot taught me more than any guide
I spent two whole years aiming to capture the Andromeda Galaxy without star trails. Each attempt had issues... either my mount drifted or haze washed out the details. There were nights I just sat in the dark, wondering if it was even possible. Finally, last October, the conditions were just right and I got a crisp, detailed image. All that waiting made me really understand my gear and the night sky. Kind of funny how frustration turns into patience, you know? Now I look at that photo and remember all the silent hours...

Remember reading how pros say the best gear is the gear you know inside out. Your story proves that, @the_felix. That hard-won patience is the real tool.

Two whole years? That's wild.

Honestly, the only thing that stuck for me was picking one small, specific thing to learn each week. Trying to learn it all at once just made me give up. I'd spend a whole Saturday just figuring out how to properly set up one type of shot, nothing else. That slow build made it click over months, not days.
