Stop stacking frames without dithering, my M42 shots were ruined for a month
I kept wondering why my Orion Nebula shots looked banded and flat even after stacking 40 lights at ISO 1600 on my old Canon T3i. Turns out I was just hitting "stack" in DeepSkyStacker without turning on dithering between subs, so the fixed pattern noise piled up instead of averaging out. Last week I set it to 5 pixel dither every 2 frames and the same target from my backyard in Cleveland came out way smoother. Anyone else get burned by this when they first started, or is it just me?
