Spent 4 hours stacking subs in DeepSkyStacker before a guy in Dallas asked why I was not shooting flats
I downloaded everything into DeepSkyStacker every clear night for about 6 months and kept getting these nasty dust donuts and weird color rings in my Andromeda shots, so I just cropped them out and called it good. Then a guy named Ray at the Dallas Astronomy Club star party looked at my laptop and asked why I had zero flats in my stack, and it hit me that I was throwing away half my data by not calibrating. So how long did it take you folks to start shooting flats, or am I the last one still learning this the hard way?
