My camping trip last month made my star photos way clearer

I drove out to a state park with my camera to try some night sky shots. The pictures from there had so many more stars than my ones from home. Do you plan trips just to take better astronomy photos?

Drive to places with less light pollution just for astronomy pics, I see that all the time now. My cousin plans whole vacations around new moon phases to get the best shots. It's like people are mapping out dark sky parks like they used to plan beach trips. Your state park trip fits right into that trend of chasing perfect conditions.

It's not really about the photos for most people though. My family just drove an hour last weekend to see the Milky Way for the first time. No cameras, just a blanket and some hot chocolate. That desire to see a real night sky feels pretty basic, not like following a trend. Your cousin is hardcore, but lots of us are just tired of our own washed-out skies.

But does chasing perfect skies miss the point sometimes?
