My attempt at a long exposure of the Milky Way from my backyard last month ended with a raccoon in the shot

I set everything up for a 30-second exposure, and when I checked the screen, there was just a blurry trash panda staring right at the lens. Anyone else have wildlife photobomb their astro shots?

Blurry trash panda" is the best kind of photobomb. I used to get mad at ruined shots, but now those are the ones I keep.

Disagree completely. A blurry animal wrecking a shot is just a failed photo. I work hard to get the composition right, and some random raccoon messes it up. Those pictures are just junk taking up space on my hard drive. The whole point is to capture what you meant to capture, not some random accident. Keeping those feels like settling for a mistake instead of the real shot you wanted.

Right? My best astro shot this year had a confused possum blinking in the corner.
