Just realized my star trail shots were ruined by a streetlight 3 blocks away
I tried stacking 120 ten second exposures from my backyard in Denver last Friday, and every single frame had a weird orange glow creeping up from the bottom left corner. Come to find out, the city installed a new LED streetlight on the next block over, and its beam was bouncing off a neighbor's white fence straight into my lens. How do you guys deal with local light pollution when you can't exactly drive to a dark site every clear night?

That white fence is doing more damage than the streetlight itself. A flat white surface can bounce back 80 to 90 percent of the light hitting it, so your neighbor basically installed a giant reflector aimed at your yard. Dark paint on that fence would cut the glow way down, and some cities will even pay for it if you file a light trespass complaint. Worth knocking on their door with a plate of cookies and a can of dark stain. Cheaper than driving to Pawnee National Grassland every clear night.
