Honestly, my first try at the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Tucson was a total disaster. Forgot to check the dew point.

@iris_mason88 yeah dew is a pain but you can actually salvage some shots just by wiping it off between exposures and hoping the next few are clean. My buddy in Flagstaff once forgot his lens cap was on for the first 20 minutes of a timelapse and still got a usable sequence out of it. It's all just trial and error til you figure out your gear.

Calling it a total disaster seems a bit harsh... forgetting the dew point is just part of the learning curve. My first few tries were all like that, just figuring out what can go wrong. You got the data, right? That means you can still process it. A little dew on the lens is a fixable problem, not a failure. It's all just practice.

Ugh but like, how do you even fix dew on the lens after the fact? Doesn't it just ruin the shots?
