Vent: My 'quick' question about a weird forum bug turned into a 3 hour deep dive

I was trying to post a simple poll here yesterday, and the submit button just kept spinning forever. I figured it was a browser thing, so I cleared my cache, tried a different browser, and even rebooted my router. Nothing worked. I finally found a buried support thread from 8 months ago where someone mentioned a specific ad-blocker extension causing the exact same issue. Turned off uBlock Origin for the site, and it posted instantly. Has anyone else run into a random extension completely breaking a basic site function like that?

Spent three hours on a forum button? That's a choice, not a crisis. Could've just closed the tab and touched grass. These tech rabbit holes are self-inflicted wounds most of the time.

Oh man, does that specific frustration ever end? I've lost whole afternoons to that kind of wild goose chase, where the fix is something totally random you'd never guess. It's always the one extension you've trusted for years that suddenly decides to break a single button on one site.

For me it was always the obscure bookmarklet I installed five years ago that I completely forgot about. Those things are ghosts in the machine, no warnings or update logs just silent chaos on random sites.
