Update: I had to pick between a big job in Seattle or a smaller local one
I got offered a full roof replacement up north and a smaller repair job in my own town on the same day. I took the local job because the travel time and crew costs for Seattle would have eaten most of the profit. Has anyone else faced a choice between a bigger project far away and a steady local one?

Local clients can turn into regulars who call you for everything. That roof repair might lead to a kitchen remodel next year. The Seattle job is a one-time check. Building a network in your own area is slower money but way more stable.
