Threw $75 down the drain on a junk vinyl cutter from Amazon

It jammed on the 3rd test cut and the software refused to talk to my laptop, so now I'm stuck with a paperweight and a lesson to just rent time on a proper machine at the makerspace instead, anyone else regret a cheap tool purchase?

Seventy five bucks for a vinyl cutter that can't even finish a test cut... man, that stings. The software not talking to your laptop is the real killer though, I've been there with cheap gear and it's always the driver issues that make you want to throw the whole thing out the window. At least you got the lesson out of it early instead of fighting with it for weeks like some people do. Makerspace rentals are probably the smart move honestly, those commercial machines just work and you don't have to store a brick in your closet. Still, I'd be tempted to leave a review warning people about the software problem so nobody else gets burned the same way.

Sit here fighting with cheap drivers myself and wondering if I should just go back to using scissors, @jake_walker.
