Rant: I thought asking for help online was pointless until last month

Always figured forums were full of bad advice. Then my car started making a weird clicking noise. Posted about it here with the exact sound description. A mechanic from Phoenix replied in 20 minutes. Said it was the CV axle, gave me the part number. Fixed it myself for $80. Saved a $400 shop visit. Now I check this place first for everything. What's the best answer you've ever gotten from a random person online?

Wow, I was the same until a forum saved my laptop from a dead motherboard.

My old ThinkPad forum found a weird BIOS fix last year.

My cousin actually had a ThinkPad from 2012 that wouldn't charge anymore. He found some random forum post where a guy said to unplug the battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then plug it back in while pressing Fn+F1. It actually worked for him, which was wild because the official support said the motherboard was dead. Did your fix involve something equally random like a key combo or a specific USB port?
