PSA: I found out those 'lifetime' warranties on tools are mostly a gimmick
I had a tape measure from a big brand snap on me last week. I always heard they had a lifetime warranty, so I figured no big deal. But when I called the customer service number, they told me I had to mail it in at my own cost and wait 6-8 weeks for a replacement. That shipping cost me $8 and I was out a tape measure for over a month. Turns out their 'lifetime' just covers the product, not the hassle. I dug into the fine print on their website and found a whole list of exclusions for things like blades and springs. For a $15 tape measure, it felt like more trouble than it was worth. Has anyone else had better luck getting a quick swap on a tool warranty somewhere?
