Paying full price vs waiting for a sale - which side are you on?

I had to decide between buying a new laptop at full price last month or waiting for Black Friday deals. I went with the full price option because my old one crashed mid-project and I needed it right away for work. Paid $1,200 for a Dell that now goes for $900 online and honestly I'm kicking myself a bit. But I also got 3 extra months of use out of it for my freelance stuff so maybe it was worth it? Do you guys usually wait it out or just pull the trigger when you need something?

Man, I feel that. I once paid full price for a jacket and then found it half off the next week. Now I walk around looking like a sad sale flyer every time someone asks what I paid for something.

My buddy Dave waited 8 months for a good deal on a new gaming laptop. Finally found one 40% off around Memorial Day. Saved like $500 but his old computer was so slow by then he could barely run Zoom without crashing. By the time he got the new one he was so frustrated with gaming he barely touched it for weeks. He said next time he's just paying full price and enjoying it sooner.
