Passing by the boarded-up library branch in my town
We lost a hub for stories and connection, not just books.

Maybe it's just me, but using the online hold system at the next closest branch helped a bit. Idk, it kept that feeling of having a book to pick up.

Did my bad habit of always returning books with coffee stains maybe speed this along? I'm only half joking, because seeing it closed up hits hard. That branch was where I finally learned how to use the dewey decimal system, after years of just wandering the aisles. It felt like the town's living room, you know? Now it's just another empty spot on the block.

Actually, libraries close because of funding cuts, not coffee stains. The real problem is that they stopped being a budget priority for the town. Losing that space means losing the quiet tables where people studied and the kids' corner that was always noisy. It's a bigger loss than just the books on the shelves.
