My kettle died mid-boil and I learned why it kept clicking all week
On Thursday morning my electric kettle started making this weird clicking noise, then around 2 PM it just stopped heating with water still in it. I pulled the base apart and found the thermal switch had burnt out, the contacts were all black and crusty. Cost me $12 for a new switch off Amazon and about 30 minutes with a screwdriver to swap it. Has anyone else had a kettle fail like this, or am I the only one who never cleans the base plate?

Damn that sucks but honestly I feel your pain. My old kettle did the same thing last year, started clicking like crazy then just gave up one morning. I never cleaned the base either, it was all crusty with limescale. Ended up just buying a new one because I was too scared to mess with the wiring haha. Glad you got yours fixed for cheap though, that's a win.
