My garage door spring snapped at 6 AM on a Saturday
Went out to grab my tools for a side job last weekend and the whole door came crashing down. The torsion spring on the left side just gave out after 12 years of use. Ended up calling a buddy who does overhead doors and he had it swapped in 45 minutes, cost me $180 for the part and a case of beer. Anybody here ever try replacing one of those springs themselves?

My dumb self thought about trying it once, watched a couple YouTube videos, then immediately noped out after seeing one where the spring let go and put a hole in the guy's drywall. $180 and a case of beer sounds like a steal compared to that mess.

@jakep24 man, I did the exact same thing. Watched one video of a garage door spring snapping through a ceiling and decided my drywall was safer with a professional. $180 and a case of beer is definitely the cheaper option when you factor in not having a hole in your wall.
