I used to think all food delivery apps ripped you off... until I ran the numbers myself

So I always just assumed DoorDash and Uber Eats were a total scam because of the fees. But last week I was bored and actually made a spreadsheet comparing the menu prices from my local pizza place with what they charged through the apps. Turns out the restaurant itself marks up the in-app prices by like 15 percent to cover their cut, so the total I paid after the delivery fee was only about $2 more than if I picked it up myself. That surprised me because I thought it was way worse. I found this by just typing order numbers into a notepad while comparing the paper menu I had in my drawer. Has anyone else checked their own local spots like this or am I just overthinking a $12 pizza?

Oh man, you're way more disciplined than me. I would've just eaten the pizza and called it science. Props for actually making a spreadsheet though, that's some next level nerdery I can respect.

Next level nerdery" is exactly how I'm describing it from now on...

Yeah but honestly the spreadsheet is just a fancy way of tracking how much pizza I'm not eating, which is its own kind of painful science if you ask me. @reese_singh87 I'd trade you my discipline for your ability to just enjoy the pizza any day, because trust me, looking at those numbers doesn't make the cravings go away. But hey, at least now I know exactly what I'm missing out on by the calorie, right?
