Had to choose between a 3/4 inch and 1 inch thick engineered floor for a tricky install

Went with the 3/4 inch for better flexibility over the uneven subfloor, and it laid down perfectly without any hollow spots. Anyone else had to make a call like that on material thickness?

My last DIY project was a 2x4 foot patch of laminate in a closet... I went with the thickest stuff I could find thinking it was "better." Let's just say the floor now has a permanent speed bump where it meets the old boards. Your logic makes way more sense.

Smart move going thinner for that uneven subfloor.

Oh man, I learned that the hard way too. I put down thicker planks over a dip in my kitchen floor, thinking it would just bridge the gap. Nope. It created this weird springy spot that clicks every single time you step on it. Thinner material just follows the floor's shape way better. You have to fix the subfloor first, or go thin and let the underlayment smooth it out.
