Debate: Should you push through a terrible book or just put it down?
Last month I forced myself to finish a 500-page novel I hated by page 50, and I still can't decide if that was stubbornness or discipline. My friend says life's too short to read bad books, but I feel like I learned something about the author's style (even though it was painful). Which side do you fall on, and has anyone else regretted sticking with a dud past the halfway point?

oh man i am a certified book martyr here. forced myself through this one 600 page doorstopper about a guy walking across europe and i swear i aged like 10 years reading it. but hey at least now i can confidently say i hate that author's writing style with solid evidence.

Honestly same energy as when I forced myself to finish a book about a guy staring at a wall for 200 pages just so I could tell my friends I hated it with receipts. My attention span still hasn't forgiven me.
