The woman at the Grand Rapids swap table said she never buys new brushes anymore, and I get it now
I was digging through a bin of used flats at the Grand Rapids art swap last Saturday and the woman next to me said she hasn't bought a new brush since 2019, she just cuts down old ones. I laughed at the time but then I looked at my own jar of 14 brushes and realized 9 of them came from swaps or free piles. She gave me a worn filbert with a taped handle that honestly paints better than the ones I paid for. Does anyone else find the beat-up stuff works just as well, or is she just better at picking through the bins than me?
