Serious question: are empty paint tubes worth hoarding or should they hit the recycling bin?
I kept every empty tube for like 5 years thinking I'd scrape out the last bit for a mixed color emergency, but then a painter in Denver told me she melts hers down to make oil pastels and I realized I was doing it all wrong. So which is it, do you guys stockpile the dregs or toss them once they're squeezed flat?

Man, the Denver painter thing reminds me of my uncle. He saved every empty tube for decades and built a little fort out of them in his studio. Weirdest thing you ever saw. But he was the one who taught me you can cut them open and get like two more paintings out of the leftovers. So now I just cut, scrap, and recycle the metal. The hoarding part is the fun part I guess, but the payoff is in the squeeze.
