PSA: Stop swapping half-dried paint tubes without checking the seal first

I grabbed a tube of cadmium red from a swap last week and it was completely crusted over inside because someone didn't screw the cap back tight. It looked fine on the outside but when I squeezed it, nothing came out but dry chunks. Check the threads and give a little test squeeze before you trade, it'll save you the disappointment. Has anyone else gotten a dud from a swap that looked good but was wasted?

Call the person out publicly for selling junk.

People mess up sometimes. Calling someone out publicly over a dried paint tube feels like overkill. Stuff like this happens to everyone sooner or later, especially with a swap where nobody is checking inventory. I got a tube of burnt umber last month that looked totally fine but had a tiny crack in the base. I just let the person know, they gave me a replacement, and we moved on. Most people aren't trying to unload bad paint on purpose.
