Old tube of ultramarine vs new one, I kept the crusty one
Found a 15 year old tube of ultramarine in my mom's basement last month. Cap was glued shut, paint dried into a solid chunk. My new tube was right there in my bag, smooth and easy to squeeze. I picked the old one anyway, just because it reminded me of my first plein air trip in Oregon. Had to chip it out with a palette knife and rewet it with linseed oil. Worked fine, color even looked richer. Anyone else hold onto ancient paint out of pure stubbornness?
