Almost traded my half-used gouache set for watercolors, glad I didn't

I was about to swap my Winsor & Newton gouache set for someone's watercolor pans last week cause I thought gouache was too finicky. Then I watched a YouTube video where a guy used it like thick acrylics on wood scraps and it clicked for me. I took home some scrap wood from the warehouse and tried it myself, came out way better than paper. Has anyone else had a medium click after they almost gave it away?

Oh man, that YouTube click is real. I had nearly boxed up my acrylic inks to give to a friend because they dried so fast, but then I saw a video of this artist named Sarah diluting them with a spray bottle on canvas and doing these crazy washes. Three weeks later I was mixing them with pouring medium and making these drippy paintings that looked nothing like what I thought they could do. It's funny how one weird trick or application method can totally save a medium you were about to write off. Now I have like six bottles and a prayer that I don't run out of the cool colors first.

Shook my head reading "six bottles and a prayer" because that is exactly the kind of energy that gets me into trouble with art supplies. I once bought three tubes of cadmium red just because I was scared they'd stop making it, and now my partner hides my wallet when I walk near the art store. Do you actually use all six bottles or are some just sitting there looking pretty?
