A stranger at a garage sale made me rethink my brush cleaning routine
Some older painter in Portland told me I was ruining my brushes by leaving them tip-down in water overnight, and after 6 months of following her advice to dry them flat on a rag, I'm not buying new ones every other week, has anyone else heard this old trick?

...and that whole thing reminds me of when I tried to fix my favorite palette knife by bending it back with pliers. My grandpa saw me doing it and said I was making it worse because I wasn't heating it up first. So I spent twenty minutes holding it over a candle flame, nearly burned my fingers off, and the knife still ended up looking like a corkscrew. Point is, sometimes people give you weird tool advice that actually works, and other times they just watch you make a mess. But yeah, drying brushes flat makes sense, I switched after watching a video about oil paint residue pooling in the ferrule.
