Went to a fancy charcuterie tasting and now I hate my own boards
I sat through this $90 event downtown last month where they paired every cheese with an exact cracker, and honestly it killed the joy for me. Everyone there was raving about the perfect ratios and flavor arcs, but I kept thinking about how my grandma threw olives and salami on a cutting board with no rhyme or reason and we loved it. I went home and tried to follow their rules for a family gathering, spent way too long arranging things by shape and color, and nobody cared. Now I just do salty stuff on one side, sweet stuff on the other, and call it a day. Am I the only one who thinks the whole "curated" snack plate thing is overrated, or should I give their method another shot?
