TIL never put wet fruit next to crackers on a snack plate

I brought a big snack plate to a party last month with grapes right next to the water crackers. My friend's mom pulled me aside and said the crackers get soggy from the moisture. I never even thought about that. So now I put fruit in a separate little bowl on the side. Does anyone else separate wet and dry items on their boards?

Wait wait wait... so you're telling me I've been ruining crackers my whole life and nobody told me?? Lol I feel like this is some secret party etiquette that everyone just expects you to know

Honestly I used to just put the cheese right on the cracker too and thought nothing of it. But then I watched my friend carefully spread a thin layer first and it actually made the whole thing taste better. Tried it at my next gathering and yeah, I think I've been doing it wrong this whole time.

Three jelly beans at the bottom of the bag. Same thing. Everyone just accepts them but nobody actually likes them. We've got a whole culture of doing stuff wrong just because that's how it's always been done.
