That guy at the farmers market told me to stop slicing my apples so thin for snack plates and I tried it thicker last Saturday
My salami and cheddar stack stayed put way better and the whole plate looked less like a sad cafeteria tray, has anyone else gotten a weird specific tip from a vendor that actually worked?

I read somewhere that the whole "slice it thicker" idea comes from how food layering actually works in geometry and physics. Thicker slices create better structural support between ingredients so nothing slides around on the plate. That farmers market tip probably saved your snack game from looking like a total mess.

My older brother gave me a similar tip about cutting cheese for charcuterie boards. He said slice everything too thick and people will naturally eat less of it. Turns out he was right, the whole board stays together better and nobody picks at it like a snack tray. That farmers market guy probably sees people mess up plates every weekend. It's one of those small things that makes a big difference in how the food feels. I respect when someone gives you advice that actually improves your daily life like that.
