Spent 2 hours trying to get my cheese board fruit to stop browning
I tried lemon juice, vinegar water, and even soaking apple slices in Sprite before I finally read online that salt water works best. Has anyone else fought with fruit oxidation longer than expected?

...and after all that I found out the salt water trick too, but honestly the Sprite thing isn't totally dumb because the sugar and acid do help a bit. What got me is that I spent a solid hour shoving apple slices into different bowls of liquids like a mad scientist before my sister walked in and just told me to use salt water. It's like the universe wanted me to learn the hard way that a tiny bit of salt is all it takes to keep your fruit looking fresh for hours. Now I just keep a little salt shaker next to my cutting board so I never have to do that weird experiment again.

My sister tried the salt water trick once and the apples came out tasting vaguely like a pickle. She was so mad she threw the whole bowl away. Honestly I still just use lemon juice because it doesn't mess with the flavor and it keeps them from turning brown for a good few hours. Plus you don't have to worry about accidentally oversalting your fruit salad. I guess if you like the taste of salt on your apples that's fine but it's not for me.
