My snack plate tipped over at a picnic last July

I was at a park in Portland with friends, and I spent 20 minutes arranging this perfect plate with brie, salami, grapes, and those little cornichons. I set it on a wooden bench that looked flat, but one leg must have been in a dip because it wobbled and then the whole thing slid off sideways. The brie landed face down in the grass, and the crackers scattered everywhere like confetti. I salvaged what I could by brushing off the brie and picking up the grapes, but the salami was covered in dirt. Has anyone else had a plate wipeout and just had to laugh it off?

I spent 20 minutes arranging this perfect plate" - man that really hurts to read, all that effort gone in a split second. The brie landing face down in the grass is just pure heartbreak, like the universe specifically targeted your snack. I've had my fair share of picnic disasters but that one sounds like a real punchline.

Is it really a waste though? Those 20 minutes of arranging were just as much for you as they were for anyone else. And the brie hitting the grass just means you get to enjoy the rest of the meal without that fancy pressure hanging over everything. Sometimes a little chaos makes the whole thing more memorable anyway.
