My sister called my cheese board boring, she was right about one thing
Last Sunday my sister came over and I put out my usual spread: cheddar, grapes, some store bought crackers. She said it looked like a hotel lobby snack, not a meal. That got me thinking about how I never add texture beyond crunchy or soft. She mentioned adding something pickled, like cornichons or even pickled red onions, and I laughed it off at first. But I tried it with a sharp white cheddar and it completely changed how the whole plate came together. Now I keep a jar of pickled okra in the fridge for last minute boards. Has anyone else found one ingredient that makes their plate click? What's yours?
