I was a strict cheese-only guy until a friend brought a pecan butter to a wine night

For years I thought any spread besides a good brie or aged cheddar was just filler. Last month a buddy from work showed up with this homemade pecan and honey butter he'd been messing with. I put a little on a water cracker with some sliced apple and it totally changed how I build plates. Now I always keep one nut butter option on the board. Anyone else found a non-dairy spread that actually holds its own next to the cheese?

That "homemade pecan and honey butter" thing? Gotta call out honey isn't dairy. So it's fine. But pecan butter already has fat and protein just like cheese does. It's not really replacing cheese it's adding another layer.
