I used to hate having fruit on my snack plates until my sister called me out
She said my savory-only spreads were like 'a party without music' and now I always add grapes or apple slices... Has anyone else gotten strong opinions from family that actually improved their board game?

My sister said the same thing to me but about cheese boards. She told me my all-savory boards were "like a band that only plays sad songs" and now I always throw in some sliced pear or fig jam. It really does change the whole vibe, not just color but the flavors pop different when you get that sweet bite against the salty cheese. She was right too, people eat way more of the cheese when there's fruit to break it up. I've started doing the same with fruit on snack plates for the same reason, it just makes everything feel more complete. Your sister knew what she was talking about, sometimes the pushback is exactly what you need to realize you're missing something obvious.

lol "like a band that only plays sad songs" @noahclark your sister is a poet. I had the same thing happen with my taco nights. Just meat cheese and salsa. Friend called it a "guitar solo with no drums." Now I throw in mango or pineapple salsa. Total game changer. That sweet bite wakes everything up.
