I finally stopped stacking my snack plates wrong
So I had this big snack plate planned for my friends coming over last Saturday, and I just grabbed whatever I had in the fridge. I put the cheese slices right on top of the crackers, then added a pile of grapes on the side, and a bunch of salami rolled up in one corner. By the time everyone started eating, the crackers were all soggy from the cheese moisture, and the grapes were sliding into the salami. It looked like a mess after about 10 minutes. My buddy pointed out that I should have put the wet stuff like grapes and pickles in separate little bowls, and kept the crackers and cheese on different sections of the board. Has anyone else figured out a trick to keep everything from getting gross and mixed together?

I mean, I kinda disagree with the separate bowls thing though. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the whole point of a snack board is that everything runs together a little bit and you get those weird accidental flavor combos. My trick is just to build a wall of salami or hard cheese between the wet stuff and the crackers, so they stay crunchy but you can still grab a bit of everything.

Right there with @faithg26 on the salami wall idea, that actually works pretty well if you layer it thick enough. I do the same but also toss in a row of pickles or olives as a barrier, the brine keeps them separated without making a mess. Plus you get those bites where a little pickle juice hits the cheese and it's surprisingly solid.
