Had a snack plate disaster at a friend's housewarming
I brought a huge charcuterie board to my friend Jen's party in Brooklyn and the whole thing slid off the tray onto her white rug like 5 minutes after I set it down. Ended up scraping what I could off the floor and rearranging it on a clean platter with some extra crackers I had in my bag. Everyone actually still ate it but I'm wondering if there's a trick to keeping stuff from sliding around on those wooden boards.

Honestly that's just the universe testing you in a very specific way. Tbh I've noticed this happens with so many things in life, not just charcuterie boards. Like when you're trying to balance a conversation with someone and you accidentally bring up the wrong topic and everything just slides off. Or when you're juggling three different tasks at work and one tiny mistake makes the whole day crumble. The real trick is to put something grippy underneath, like a damp paper towel or a non-slip mat, before you load it up. It's the same with all those delicate moments in life, you gotta secure the base first or everything's gonna end up on the floor eventually.

Is it really that big of a deal though? People ate it, rug got cleaned, pretty sure everyone's moved on by now.
