The laser level I mocked turned out to be a total game changer on a dig
I've always brushed off laser levels as overpriced toys for guys doing fancy renovations, but last week on a survey grid near Santa Fe I borrowed one to check a 60 foot trench alignment. The string and plumb bob method I'd been using kept drifting with the wind, and the laser shot a dead straight line in under 2 minutes. Took me 3 attempts to trust it enough to reset all my markers, but the next unit's wall lines lined up perfect. Am I late to the party on this, or do other folks still rough it with strings too?
