Rant: The $300 magnetometer rental that taught me a hard lesson
I rented a magnetometer for a weekend survey in Ohio and thought I could wing the software setup at the site. Still no idea what half the data means, but the machine logged everything wrong and now I have to redo the whole grid next month. Anyone else burned cash on gear they weren't trained on first?

...it's like the universe decided we all need to learn that reading the manual first is actually cheaper than the rental fee, you know?
