Question about the 'lost civilization' label people keep slapping on every new site. Saw a documentary last night calling a 3,000-year-old settlement in Peru 'Atlantis' and it drives me nuts.

That "lost civilization" label used to get me too. I figured it was just a way to make history shows more exciting. But I watched a talk where an archaeologist said that phrase actually hurts real research. It makes people think these cultures just vanished instead of changing or merging with others over time. Calling a place "Atlantis" ignores the people who actually lived there and their real story. Now it bugs me because it feels lazy, like slapping a mystery sticker on something we could try to understand properly.
