Bought a $150 'ancient coin' online that turned out to be a modern replica.
I was convinced I'd found a genuine Roman denarius from a seller with great pictures. A local museum expert took one look and said it was a cast copy, probably made within the last decade. Has anyone else gotten burned on fake artifacts from online auctions?

Got burned on a fake Civil War belt buckle last year. Paid almost $200 from an auction site. Looked perfect in the photos. Felt wrong when it arrived, too light. Took it to a show and a collector just laughed. Said it was a cheap sand casting from a souvenir shop.

Got a 'vintage' fishing reel that turned out to be a plastic knock-off from China once.
