Tried a pole pruner on a live oak and nearly took out my own truck

Honestly, I thought swapping my handsaw for a 12 foot pole pruner on this live oak in Austin would save me time. Got about halfway through a 30 foot limb and the damn thing twisted on me, sent the branch straight toward my F150. Grazed the tailgate and left a dent the size of my fist. I learned the hard way that pole pruners are for small stuff, not for cutting heavy wood with any kind of lean. Anyone else had a close call trusting a tool that was too light for the job?

That pole pruner was really just testing your landscaping skills AND your insurance deductible at the same time, huh? Nothing says "I'm a weekend warrior" like a fresh dent shaped like your own bad decision.
