TIL the old oak in Greenville Park has a crazy root system
Honestly, I was walking through the park yesterday and saw they had to cut a section of sidewalk near the big white oak. The roots had lifted the concrete almost 8 inches in one spot. It's a textbook case of why you need to think about mature tree placement when they plant new ones. Has anyone else had to deal with a job like that in a public space?

Wow, eight inches! That is wild to think about. I mean, I've seen roots crack pavement before but eight inches is just ridiculous. That oak must have some serious muscle under there. How long has that tree even been in the ground for the roots to get that big?
