Swapped my hand pruners for a pole saw on a big oak job

I always thought hand pruners were enough for everything until I took down a 40-foot oak branch that was hanging over a porch. Using a 12-foot pole saw from Fiskars cut the time by half and I didn't have to climb a ladder at all. Anyone else made the switch for bigger limbs or still stick to hand tools?

Keep an eye on the pole saw's reach too. I found out the hard way that twelve feet isn't always enough when you're working around a house's roofline.

Why bother fighting with hand pruners on something that big? That oak branch must have been a real pain before you got the pole saw. I switched to a similar setup last year and it's night and day difference for anything thicker than your thumb. People who swear by hand tools for big jobs are just asking for a sore back and a lot of wasted time. Once you go pole saw you don't go back, simple as that.
