Shoutout to the old guy who showed me a better way to tie a running bowline

Last week I was working on a big oak removal in Charlotte and my usual knot slipped a bit when I was lowering a limb. An older climber on the crew saw me fussing with it and just said 'try it like this' and showed me his way to dress the knot. I've been doing it his way all week and it's been way more solid every time. Anyone else have a small knot trick that made a big difference?

Right? It's like they've already made all the mistakes so we don't have to. Those small bits of advice save so much headache.

Old hands" is a good way to put it. What hits me is how often that advice is about patience, not just a trick. They learned to slow down and check the simple stuff first, which is the opposite of how you start out eager to fix things fast. That calm approach they pass on prevents more problems than any single tip. It changes the whole way you work.
