Saw my favorite climbing rope get trashed after one bad cut

I was cutting a branch over a driveway in Sacramento yesterday, and my rope got nicked by a saw tooth. That rope was only 3 months old and now it's garbage. Anybody else keep a spare rope just for sketchy removals?

Man that sucks, losing a good rope after only 3 months is the worst

Have you checked if maybe the way you're storing the rope is part of the problem? Like, I used to just toss mine in the back of the truck until I realized the heat and UV from the sun was making the sheath get all crispy and brittle way faster. Idk, might be worth just hanging it in a cool shed instead of leaving it in direct light.

Rub it in, why don't ya. I've got a beat-up old rope that's basically held together with tape and good intentions for sketchy removals. It's got more nicks than my neighbor's truck after a hailstorm. I save the good rope for the easy stuff, like trimming lilacs or something. The junk rope is for when I know I'm gonna be dumb and cut too close to my line.
