Question about a weird trick for a big pine stump. I drilled holes and poured in leftover cola from a cookout. It actually helped rot it out faster.

My grandpa in Ohio swore by dumping a gallon of vinegar into the holes.

Vinegar in the holes is a classic move, @campbell.robin. I've done it for ground bees before. You gotta do it at dusk when they're all home, and plug the hole with dirt right after. Just vinegar might not kill the whole nest though, so keep an eye out for more activity.

Tried the vinegar trick last summer. Watched a whole new crew of yellow jackets move into the same spot two days later. Had to go with the boiling water method in the end, which was way more final. Sometimes you need the heavy artillery.
