Pro tip: skip the cheap ropes, I learned the hard way
Bought a 150-foot rope from Harbor Freight for $25 last spring to save some cash. Snapped on me during a big removal job in Austin, nearly dropped a limb on a shed. Ended up shelling out $120 for a Yale kernmantle rope that's held up way better. Anyone else get burned by budget gear before?

Did your friend try to return the Harbor Freight rope after it snapped? My buddy had a similar thing happen with one of their tow straps that let go on him while he was pulling a stump out of his yard. Scared him bad enough he swore off their stuff for anything heavy duty.

Harbor Freight? For tree work? Man that's terrifying. 25 bucks for 150 feet should have been the first red flag. I've seen those ropes in person and they feel like they're made of recycled grocery bags. Glad nobody got hurt but that's a hard lesson.
