Just realized my crew's old climbing rope beat the new one we bought

We got a fancy new static line for a big oak removal in Portland. The old one was 10 years old, a basic 11mm. The new one felt stiff, didn't drape right over the crotch. Ended up switching back halfway through. The old rope just handled better for natural crotch rigging. Anyone else have a tool that just worked better worn in?

My old 16oz Estwing hammer is like that... broke in just right after 15 years.

Wow, my tools just get more broken in the wrong way.

Oh man, my buddy's old drill is totally like that now! It's missing half the case and the chuck wobbles, but it somehow works better for him than a brand new one. Some tools just find their own weird groove.
