I thought those 'tree growth regulators' were just a fancy way to charge more
Had a client in Springfield who insisted on trying Cambistat on a huge oak that was pushing into power lines. I figured it was a waste of money, but after two seasons, the leader growth slowed by almost 70% without hurting the tree's health. It actually worked better than just pruning it back every year. Has anyone else used PGRs on mature trees in a tight spot like that?

Used to think they were a scam too until I saw the results. Good point from @margaretk89 about the roots, that's a solid bonus.

Forget the growth, check the root spread. Slower top growth can mean less root competition with foundations and sidewalks.
